SERVO VOLTAGE STABILIZERS: A SHEILD FOR THE ELECTRIC APPLIANCES

We all know that day by day requirement of electrical power is increasing but resources are limited, resulting in increased load on installed electrical systems due to which power quality get distorted. It is very important to take care of the various factors which affect the operation of electrical appliance and equipments. Some major factor is voltage fluctuation and phase unbalancing. We can say that these two factors are the big enemy of electrical appliances & equipments.

Due to these problems, several problems get generated in industrial, commercial & residential sectors such as:

  •        Reduction in motor efficiency, overheating and fast ageing of motors and  switchgears.
  •        Stoppage of production, inconsistent production quality and increase in  wastage.
  •        Malfunctioning & data loss in electronic / CNC equipments.
  •        Quick burn out of light fittings, bulbs & lamps.
  •        Higher consumption by lighting load.
  •        Higher demand & higher energy bill.
  •        Loss of competitive position

Electrical industry is very much concerned due to above and is continuously working to bring the new inventions to solve the above issues. Servo Voltage stabilizers is one of the best solution to cater to the above issue. Servo voltage stabilizers solve small and giant problems of the electricity and add more life to the electrical appliances, equipments and machines.

A voltage stabilizer, as the name suggests helps us to have a stabilized the voltage. When there is a high voltage then it makes it to the required level of electrical equipment and vice versa. Stabilized input to the machines helps us to increase the efficiency of machines as well as quality of final product improves.

Your expensive equipment is being subjected to undesirable stress because of improper voltage. Typical ill-effects on some common equipment are illustrated below.

Equipments
Effects of under voltage
Effects of over voltage
UPS Systems
Low Battery Life
Failure
Electronics
Malfunction
Failure
Electron Tubes
10% drop reduces Cathode emission by 40%
5% increase reduces tube life by 50%
Rectifier Loads
At 10 % under voltage, plating rate drops by 20%, charging rate Drops by 25%, welding time increased by 20%
Excessive heat generated, produces poor welds can reduce rectifier life substantially. Plating/deposition may be uncontrolled.
Motors/ Air Conditioning
Overload and uneven heating/ low efficiency.
Overheating
Lamps, Tube lights Heating Elements
Low lux, reduced efficiency.
Higher Failure/ high energy consumption due to over heating
Process Plants
Increase in wastage of finished product, stoppage of production
Uneven quality

Servo Voltage Stabilizers are tailor made equipment, and can be customized as per actual voltage requirement of customer. Further we can also provide the various protection features in SVS, which are as below:

A)   Indoor or Outdoor Models
B)   Inbuilt By pass system
C)   Surge & Spike Suppressor
D)   Single phase prevention & phase reversal
E)   High/ Low cut off, auto resumption
F)    Trip & alarm for abnormalities

To get the best performance from Servo Voltage Stabilizer it shall be also fulfill the specification as mentioned in IS 9815, Servo Voltage Stabilizer should be confirm the construction requirement as per IS 9815, Some of the important parameters is as below:
a) Construction of Servo Voltage stabilizer shall consist the variable auto transformer (Dimmer Assembly) as mentioned in IS 9815, which confirm the requirement of IS 5142:9169, this dimmer assembly shall have two micro switches at the ends to cut off power supply to servo motor.

b) Suitable indicator lamp to indicate that the unit is “ON” shall be provided on the panel.
c) SVS unit shall have arrangement to control output manually on the front panel.
d) Proper Louvers and safety precautions shall be taken care during manufacturing to avoid any dust particles and any impurity to enter in SVS
e) Proper earthing provision shall be provided to SVS.

In addition of above SVS shall be tested as mentioned in IS 9815, some of the important test is as below:

a) Physical Examination
b) Insulation Resistance
c) High Voltage Test
d) Measurement of No Load Losses & Load Losses
e) Induced over Voltage test

Besides of above operational test shall be also carried out on servo voltage stabilizer. Successful test results of above tests increase the reliability of equipment and we are able to get the best performance from servo voltage stabilizer, So from above we can conclude that a Servo Voltage Stabilizers works as a Shield of our electrical appliances and equipments.
